Reflections across the Liffey


The old docklands area has been rebuilt since 1987 as the financial centre of Dublin. Where once travelled up the River Liffey to load and unload modern buildings abound.

During the early 18th century elegant Georgian homes were built. Construction had to adhere to very specific architectural guidelines. The oldest buildings are North of the River Liffey in and around Henrietta Street but the Merrion Square and Fitzwilliam Square are the most well known. Originally all the doors were the same colour.

Dublin is the capital and largest city in Ireland. Established by the Gaels before the 7th century AD it Later expanded as a Viking settlement along the banks of the River Liffey. It is bordered to South by the Dublin Mountains and County Wicklow.
