As one of the most iconic images of Scotland, Eilean Donan is recognised all around the world. The castle was founded in the thirteenth century and became a stronghold of the Clan Mackenzie and their allies the Clan MacRae. It was destroyed after the Jacobite rebellions of 1719 and rebuilt between 1919 and 1932.
